Years ago at a trade show, Charlie and Will arrived with great excitement, ready to present a brand-new concept. There was only one small issue…

The Birthday Bear wasn’t there.

No sample. No prototype. No grand debut. In the flurry of preparations, the bear had been left behind.

But with true Charlie Bears creativity, Charlie spotted a simple cardboard box, tied it with ribbon, placed it on display, and declared it a surprise:

Against all expectations, retailers loved it and purchased the empty boxes anyway, trusting that something magical would be inside once they received the bears. That was the moment the very first Birthday Bear was born, not from a sketchbook, but from serendipity, imagination, and belief.

Diesel, Parties Around the World & A New Tradition

The debut Birthday Bear, Diesel (2010), became a sensation. Collectors were so enchanted that many purchased pairs or triplets, and stockists around the world hosted Birthday Bear parties complete with:
